Quilling Paper or Filigree Paper

Quilling or paper filigree is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled and arranged to form decorative designs. The main part of quilling art is decorative details such as flowers, and leaves, and from these the designers create pictures. In the beginning of this art form, from 1300 to 1500s, in Europe, nuns used feather quills to decorate holy items, which is why the word Quilling is now used.

Veneer Arts

Veneer refers to thin slices of wood (0.6 mm). As it has all the different grains and colors, veneer is used to glue onto fibre boards so that they look like real wood. We use veneers to create different products such as greeting cards, bookmarks, magnets, and 3D designs.

The procedure is small pieces are cut out of the wood by laser machines. The single pieces then are rearranged by hand on different levels so that it results in a stereoscopic picture. Partly, the wood is colored before.

3D Paper Cutting

It is marvellous to open a flat piece of paper to see a 3D image. This is done by the hands of talented artists. They use the art to create detailed shapes, movements, wheels and other shapes on a flat surface.

Shapes and movements are now used in children’s books; however, this originates from ancient science. In the beginning of the 15th century, paper plates and lids were used to explain concepts in astrology, literature, math and anatomy.
