STEP 2: HOW TO QUILL
1 – you need stably to hold a quilling needle in one hand. Use index finger and thumb to pick up the top of the quilling paper string, insert it into the slot of the quilling needle and start rolling.
Tips: when inserting the paper string into the needle slot, don’t get too close to the paper edge, saving some room will make the center of your quilling looks better.
2 – start rolling in the direction of your arm. Your index finger and thumb need to move slowly in the opposite direction of the needle.
Tip: While rolling, slightly push and adjust the paper edge with your fingers. Your rolling should be firm and confident. Too loose or too tight might mess up the result. Just do few rollings and you will get the idea for a suitable force.
3 – when you roll to the end of your paper string, use your index finger and push (from the bottom) your rolled quilling out of the needle. Remember to use the other hand’s index finger and thumb to hold your rolled quilling.
Tips: be careful with your quilling center. People usually make the quilling center lose when removing it from the needle.
4 – after removing your quilling from the needle, always hold it tight. Otherwise, it unrolls and you will need to do it again.
Tips: the longer the length of the paper, the bigger the quilling circle.
5 – use your index finger and thumb to slowly loosen the rolled quilling and stop when it reaches the size you want.
Tips: Do this step slow and carefully, so all the parts are loosened evenly.
6 – the last step, now you can use your index finger and thumb to shape your twisted paper into the form you want.
Tips: You can use your crafting board which has different forms for this step.
Great work! Now you know how to twist a basic quilling. Always remember that practice makes perfect. Hence, don’t be sad if your work doesn’t look nice, it is going to be much better. Let’s jump up to the next step, how to glue.
STEP 3: HOW TO GLUE
1 – First, you need to spread white glue over the crafting board. Use your point nail file to spread the glue as thin as you can.
Tips: The thinner the glue spread, the better.
2 – Second, you use your point tweezer to hold your shaped quilling. You need to pick it up carefully and avoid dropping your work.
Tips: Shape your quilling before this step
3 – Now, use your point tweezer and dip your shaped quilling in the glue
Tips: support this step with your index finger.
4 – Important step, you will stick your quilling into the blueprint. Use your index finger and lightly press your quilling into the blueprint
Tips: Do it quick enough, so your glue doesn’t dry.
5 – Final step, this one is easy. You just need to wait for 1 to 3 seconds and enjoy your work. Do the same process with other parts until your project is finished.
